Edward S. Mitzenmacher, 76, passed away in Valparaiso, Indiana on January 30, 2013. Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 9, 1936, Ed spent a good portion of his life residing in Mount Prospect, Illinois with his wife of 54 years, Gail, where they raised their four children. Ed and Gail relocated to Valparaiso, Indiana 6 ½ years ago where he spent the remainder of his life making friends and making people smile everywhere he went, including his house of worship, Temple Israel in Valparaiso. Ed was a passionate home chef who was an expert in baking breads and he would often be seen with his iPod on his ears listening to all kinds of music, and his iPad in his hands checking his email and surfing the internet, but most importantly, Ed was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kate (Korn) Mitzenmacher, Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Gail, four children, Mark Mitzenmacher of San Antonio, Texas, Meryl (John) Homola of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Michele ( Mark) Coleman of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Jack Mitzenmacher of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael and Kara Homola of Crystal Lake, Illinois, as well as one sister, Deanna Mitzenmacher of Aventura, Florida. Funeral services are being arranged through Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Valparaiso, IN 46383, and (219) 462-4102. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, 1505 East Morthland Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383 on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rabbi Shoshanna Feferman officiating at the gravesite service. In lieu of flowers, the Mitzenmacher family respectfully requests memorials are offered to the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016(
