Doris E. Collins, 91 of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was born September 26, 1924 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Sylvanajs and Margaret (Daugherty) Burnworth. On May 5, 1943 she married Frank A. Collins, who preceded her in death February 23, 1999. Doris was a librarian at Valparaiso University for 15 years and a member of the American Legion Post 94 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are her children, Gloria (Dr. Larry) Reed and Frank (Dixie) Collins all of Chesterton and William (Linda) Collins of Leadville, CO, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and a brother Van Burnworth of Pennsylvania. Her parents, a granddaughter Michelle and 8 brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016, 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Services at 100 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Pastor Michael Porter officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Memorial Donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383-2520.
