Douglas R. McMorris, 67 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016.  He was born June 3, 1949 in Harvey, Illinois to Howard Wilbur and Mae Fern (Beyers) McMorris.  On September 1, 2002 he married Laura Mershon who survives.  Also surviving are his son Michael McMorris and stepchildren Larry (Jennifer) Roberts, Matthew (Colleen) Roberts, Jacob (Susan) Grdina and grandchildren Owen and Haley Roberts.  Douglas was a member of the American Legion Post #94 in Valparaiso and was a Viet Nam Navy veteran.  Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 14th from 3-5 PM with services by the family at 5:00 PM at Bartholomew funeral Home in Valparaiso.
