Glenn Dowd

Glenn Dowd, 75 of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away March 1, 2018. Glenn was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. He worked at U.S. Steel Company-Sheet and Tin Division, for 30 years and was an electrical supervisor (Gary Works). He retired only 1 month then became a field engineer for Provar Industrial Corporation of Merrillville for 21 years, retiring again in 2016. He also owned Glenn Dowd Trucking in Valparaiso from 1965 to 1985. In 1963 he married Carol Johnson Kuehl, who survives. They were married 54 years and have 5 surviving children, Harry Kuehl of Valparaiso, Robert Kuehl (Diana) of Valparaiso, Glenn Dowd, Jr. (Jackie) of Unionville, Tennessee, Cynthia Nerden (Kevin) of Redondo Beach, California and Christopher Dowd (Sarah) of Angola, Indiana. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, Brian Kuehl, Kerry Kuehl, Michelle Snider, (Jordon), Anthony Kuehl (Krista), Jeniffer Dowd, Jessica Dowd, Logan Tahlier, Edward Sly, Amanda Musall and Alysha Sly. He is survived by 11 great grandchildren, Grant Snider, Drew Snider, Michael Sales, Lindsey Bartholomew, Tiffany Bartholomew, Destiny Bartholomew, Cody Bartholomew, Hayden Sly, Braden Coggins, Ava Musall and Hunter Musall. Also survived by 1 brother, Kenneth Dowd (Georgia), 2 step brothers, David Dowd and William Dowd of California and 1 step sister Lilah Barbers of Valparaiso. He was proceeded in death by his parents, mother Ethel Louise Marks Dowd and Glenn Eben Dowd, grandparents, Carl Marks and Lydia Marks. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 3-8 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Valparaiso. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N Campbell St, Valparaiso, Pastor Erica Gibson-Even officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Memorial Donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund of the American Heart Association.
