Kinsey Baker Brown Sr. 81

Loving husband, father and grandfather passed away July 10, 2017 in Walnut CA. Kinsey Sr. was born October 1, 1935 in Chicago IL The oldest of 3 children born to Henry Kinsey Brown and Edith Helen Brown (nee Japenga). He is the grandson of Henry Baker Brown, founder of Valparaiso University, and Geneva Axe White.

A graduate of Valparaiso University in 1959, Kinsey Sr. earned his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.

Kinsey Sr. married Catherine Griffin in January 1957, they were married 60 years. They have 3 children Kinsey Baker Brown Jr. (Denise), Valerie Wood (Douglas), Maria Hommel (Brian).

In 1966, the family moved to Southern California where he enjoyed the warm weather and the beaches. Kinsey Sr. worked as a Mechanical Engineer for United Technologies/Carrier Corporation where he was a manager in their design department for 25 years retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed life and family time with his children and grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, and anytime Chicago was playing he was watching. One of his recent joys was watching the Cubs win the World Series. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school and baseball throughout his youth. He loved music, building anything electronic from T.V.’s to stereo systems and figuring out anything that had a complex solution.

He is preceded in death by his son Kinsey Baker Brown Jr., grandson Robert Kinsey Wood, brother Henry Stuart Brown and both parents.

Survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Sister Judith Mack (David), Sister-in-Law Bianca Brown, Grandsons: Korey Baker Brown, Johnathan Tingley and James Wood; Granddaughters: Catherine Spears (Wood), Candace Tingley, Tricia Brown, Elizabeth Wood and Mary Wood, all of whom he adored.

Kinsey Sr. will be greatly missed by family and friends, and forever held closely in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held Saturday October 28, 2017 11:00 am at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso IN. Bartholomew Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
