Phyllis C Meyers

Phyllis Charlene Meyers, 89, of Valparaiso, passed away on January 19, 2018.  She was born on September 21, 1928, in Valparaiso to Erwin and Vivian (Worstall) Gorges, who both preceded her in death.  Phyllis had worked in the Duneland School System as a teacher before retiring.  She was also a founding member of Faith Memorial Lutheran Church in Valparaiso and a member of the Moose Lodge. Her hobbies included reading, travel, and playing cards.  Phyllis is survived by her children Jeff Matanich of Indianapolis, Larry (Rita) Matanich of Kentucky, Lee Matanich of Florida, and Todd (Peggy) Matanich of California. Also surviving are her grandchildren  Mathew Matanich, Kathy Seaton, Michelle Johnson; Roger Matanich, Thomas Matanich, Pamela Iniguel; Christopher Bakutis, Valerie Smith, Steven Matanich, Amy Ivey; Laurie Dix, and Julie Ullmann.  She has 27 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husbands; Robert Hurst, Mike Matanich and Kenneth Meyers and her parents. A visitation for her will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Faith Memorial Lutheran Church, 753 N Calumet Ave, Valparaiso, IN., from noon until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held at 1:15 PM at the church with Pastor Eric Schoech officiating.
