Robert McChristian, 83, of Valparaiso, passed away on April 1,  2017 .  He was born on July 16, 1933, in Japton, Arkansas, to Coleman R. and Dorothy (Holt) McChristian.  In 1951 in Boone Grove he married Harriet Smith who survives. 

Robert worked as a locomotive engineer for Bethlehem Steel for many years.  He also enjoyed many years of square dancing with his wife and belonged to Salmon Unlimited.  He is survived by his wife, and children, Coleman A. McChristian of Maryland, Kathy (Jack) Claussen of Valparaiso, Paul (Linda) McChristian of Valparaiso, Charles (Rhonda) McChristian of Lake Station, and Joseph McChristian of Valparaiso.  Robeert is also survived by 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  As per Robert’s wishes, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family, VNA Hospice or the Ronal McDonald House.
