Alan James Young, 79 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He was born April 1, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Fred and Mildred (Jensen) Young. Alan was a US Army Veteran, a retired painter and a Boy Scout Leader. He was a member of the Painter’s Union #1174 and served as recording secretary for a few terms. On March 25, 1961 he married Suzanne Peters, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are his sons; Eric Young of Michigan and Carl (Candy) Young of Westville, 8 grandchildren and brother Kenneth Young of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christine Sanchez, sister Janis Young, and brother George Young. A Memorial Service will follow at a later date.
