Curtis B. Elkins, Jr. 75 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born February 11, 1942 in Shelby Gap, Kentucky, the son of Curtis B. and Minnie (Johnson) Elkins, Sr. Curtis was a pipefitter, with Local #597 and a member and greeter with Washington Evangelical Free Church. On January 31, 1987 in Valparaiso, he married JoAnn Walker, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are his children, Deanna (Thomas) Albano and Doreen Adams of Chesterton and Daniel (Tia) Elkins of Valparaiso, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. His sister Lavada (Wayne) Coke of Portage, brothers, Willie Kyle (Kathy) Elkins of Valparaiso and Ernest (Gladyse) Elkins, of Portage, his former wife Anna (Joseph- deceased) Saddler and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles Elkins and Therman Elkins. “There wasn’t anything broken that he couldn’t fix”. Visitation will be held Monday, May 29, 2017, 2-4 PM at Washington Evangelical Free Church, 3805 LaPorte Ave, Valparaiso. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 PM with Phil Alessi officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Evangelical Free Church or the Salvation Army.
