Donald J. Lawrence, 77, of Valparaiso, passed away on January 16, 2018, at his home and surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 26, 1940, in Wheeler, Indiana, to Alvin O. and Rose G. (Durfee) Lawrence.  On September 9, 1961, in Valparaiso, he married Diane Rugg, who survives.  Don worked as a millwright at Bethlehem Steel for 30 years before he retired in 2003.  He had also worked at Roy’s Mobil Service before working at Bethlehem Steel.  Don is survived by his children Wayne (Cindy) Lawrence of Valparaiso, and Jenniffer Pulliam of Florida; grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Jessica, and Jeffery Savage all of Valparaiso; Katie, Megan, Samantha Lawrence all of Valparaiso; and great grandchildren Gabriel, Noah and Lainey. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl Lawrence of Tennessee, Ray (Carol) Lawrence of Kouts and Delmar (Rosann) Lawrence of Idaho, sister Brenda (John) Baron of Valparaiso and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott Lawrence and grandson Joshua Savage.  A visitation for Don will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM, at Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso.  A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM, at Bartholomew Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Schmidt officiating.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.
