Donna Jean Follis, 96 of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Life Care Center. Born November 7, 1920, in Freeport, MI, to Alvin and Mabel (Price) Helrigel, she married Daniel M. Follis in 1939 and moved to Valparaiso.  They celebrated 49 years of marriage before his death in 1989. Donna was cafeteria manager at Thomas Jefferson School and later sold AFLAC insurance until she retired. She was a member of the Valparaiso Nazarene Church, a friend of 1^st United Methodist Church in Valparaiso, and attended Mid-Lakes Christian Church during winters in Leesburg, FL. She returned to Valparaiso in 2001 and lived at Pines Village until 2014. Survivors include three children: Dean (Anne) Follis of Peoria, IL, Diane Anselm of Valparaiso, and Denny Follis of Chesterton. She was preceded in death in 2015 by one granddaughter, Megan McQuellon, daughter of Dean and Anne, and is survived by 8 grandchildren: Dean’s sons, Troy (Abby) Follis, Ryan (Tara) Follis; Diane’s sons, Scott (Debbie) Anselm, Jeff (Karen) Anselm, and daughters Stacy (Tony) Stesiak, Jamie Anselm; Denny’s daughter, Kristen (Mark) Peterson, and son Michael (Kris) Follis. Donna was blessed with 21 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1-3 PM Sunday, August 13, 2017 and the Funeral will be Sunday, at 3:00 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe Street, Rev. Dean Follis officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Monday at 10:00 AM.
