Esther C. (Gernenz) Lewin

Esther C. Lewin, 97, Remington, passed away Wednesday, June 19,2019. She was born July 27, 1921, in Crown Point, IN., the daughter of William and Anna (Wesley) Gernenz, who both preceded her in death. On August 23, 1940, in Crown Point, IN., she married Everett Lewin who also preceded her in death. Esther worked as a baker for Crown Bakery in Crown Point before retiring. She enjoyed Crocheting, cross-stitching, and working word puzzles. Surviving are her children Rick (Rhonda) Lewin, Doris (Tony) Steinmetz and Patty (Dan) Anaya, 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Berkley, and sons Ronald and Bill Lewin. Esther was also preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Wood and Wilma Stephenson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Rev. Mac McElhaney officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service, from 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
