Robert Howard Cooley, 89 of Valparaiso, peacefully entered into eternal life at home, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Bob was born in Monon, IN on January 7, 1929, the son of Leonard and Geneva (Helfrich) Cooley. He was a US Korean War Navy Veteran. Bob retired from Urschel Laboratories as a sheet metal worker. He also worked at Taylor Forge Gary and Union Rolls. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Valparaiso Moose, the Hobart Elks, and Bells and Beaus Dance Club. On October 21, 1950, in Portsmouth, Virginia, he married Marcella “Sally” Hall, who preceded him in death, July 21, 2013. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ray and Francis Cooley. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Gregory (Theresa) Cooley of Burns Harbor; daughter, Pamela (Michael) Thomas of Valparaiso; and daughter Kay Lynn Cooley of Fishers, Indiana; granddaughters: Jill Cooley, Jennifer (Kevin) Linehan, Megan (Chad) Schultz, Brittany Cooley, Natalie (Trey) Brightwell, and Jana Cooley; greatgrandchildren: Mason Schultz, Emerson and Everett Linehan; as well as many loving family and friends. He is also survived by his sisters, Marie Erb, Dorothy Rardon, and Phyllis Onken. Bob and Sally spent many happy years after retirement at their winter residence at Lake Pointe Village in Mulberry, FL. Bob truly enjoyed his grandchildren, Golf, gardening, card playing, Basketball and was a Pacers Fan. He was loved and will greatly be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 5-8 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso and 9:00 AM until time of Mass at the Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, October 10, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd, Valparaiso, Rev. David Gosnell officiating. Burial in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
