Vincent Mercaldo

Vincent Mercaldo, 82, of Valparaiso, passed away April 12, 2018. He was born January 23, 1936 in Philadelphia, to the late Vincent F Mercaldo and Mary (Mongomery) DeMaria. A veteran of the Navy he served his country in the Korean War. Vincent worked for the city of Philadelphia as a chemist. He then worked for Allenwood Steel and later US Steel until retirement. Vince was also a member of ASTM. Vince worked as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pauls Church until his health interfered. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dolores (Keller) and his children Vincent Jr (Diane), Vic (Pam), Vernon (Suzanne), Vance, and Theresa as well as adopted son Fred (Jean); 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Fred (Ginger) Mercaldo and his sisters Joan (Len) Nuss and Bernadette (Billy) Holmes. Vincent is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Patricia Mercaldo, his daughter Dolores Mercaldo, and granddaughter Kelly Mercaldo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM. A funeral Mass will follow visitation. Father Joe Pawlowski officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
