Aletha “Jean” Gray
Age 88 years young of Michigan City, formerly of Portage passed peacefully on August 13, 2023. She was born in Valparaiso on August 12, 1935 to James E. Pullins and Opal Scott.
On June 24, 1978 she married the love of her life, Richard P Gray. They spent 34 years together prior to his passing(2012) working in their yard and barn , taking their many dogs on walks to Lake Michigan and Mt. Baldy, Bowling with friends and Riding the Harley. They both worked for Continental Can Company prior to the plant closing.
Jean is survived by her loving and devoted children: son David (Jeannie) Tully Princeton, TX, daughter Phyllis Thomson Georgetown TX and Kevin (Sue) Tully Chesterton IN .
Her Grandchildren: Sabrina Reid, Jessica (Michael) Austin, Bill (Stacey) Reid, Scott (Amanda) Tully and Joshua Tully. Step Grandchildren: Dameon Beal , Techeka Griffin and Christy Bowers. 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Granddaughters, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also, her sisters: Noretta (Sis) Pullins, Cindy Pullins and Joyce Pullins. And her fur babies “the girls” Ember and Missy.
She is preceded by her husband Richard, her parents, her youngest sister Molly Terry, niece Vickie Terry, great-grandson Nathan Gould along with her aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jean loved, loved her family, friends, neighbors and her dogs. She had an enormous amount of energy, a zest for life, a no nonsense attitude. She was sassy but had the warmest hugs. We will miss her beautiful smile.
Her family is honoring her request for no visitation.
