Betty Jean Herren

Betty Jean Herren, 93 of Valparaiso, passed away Friday December 2, 2022. She was born May 19, 1929 in Gary the daughter of John Hartnup and Lillian (Reimers) Hartnup-Studer. Betty was the final inspector at McGills in Valparaiso, belonging to the 30 year club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Valparaiso.  She was also a long time precinct committee person in the Valparaiso area. In her later years she worked for the V.N.A  and was awarded the caregiver of the year award. 

      On July 12, 1952, she married George W. Herren, who preceded her in death June 6, 1996. Surviving are her children Debra Herren of Goshen, Constance (Milan) Radovich of Valparaiso, Gary (Sharon) Herren of Hobart, Judy Noble of Valparaiso, and daughter-in-law Kathleen Schroeder of Williamsburg, VA. Also surviving her are her brother Robert Hartnup of Luftkin, TX, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Schroeder, her son William Schroeder, her parents, 2 sisters, and one great grandson Zachary Holland. 

         Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 4pm to 7pm at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00am at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Pastor Kevin Miller will be officiating.
