Darlene J. Beatty

Darlene J. Beatty, 87, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023.  She was born on July, 5, 1935, in Valparaiso, to John and Bertha (Lemster) Hendricks.  In January 1955 she married the love of her life Vernon H. Beatty.  She was a member of the Valparaiso First Presbyterian Church and worked in the church’s resale shop and a member of the American Legion Charles Pratt Post Women’s Auxiliary.  Darlene worked as a baker for Thomas Jefferson Middle School for many years.  She is survived by her daughters Vicki (Mike) Walter of Valparaiso and Pamela (Michael) Skaltsas of Valparaiso.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Chad. Brett, Angela, Jordan, and Karissa; and great grandchildren Mia, Jax, Paisley, Althea, Remi, Kinsley, and Kanaan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Richard and Edwin Hendricks, and grandson Brandon.  As per Darlene’s wishes, the funeral service will be private.
