Doreen June (Beckmann) Witte

Doreen June Witte, 68 of Valparaiso, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born July 2, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Harvey and Leona (Schulz) Beckmann. After earning a bachelors degree in Psychology from Purdue University, she became a social worker and later a founding partner of GMW Consultants. Doreen was known for her infectious laugh, joy of music, her unfailing positivity and her unwavering devotion to her friends and family. On August 17, 1974 in Fort Wayne, she married Edward William Witte, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are her children, Nathan A. (Robin) Witte of Valparaiso, Benjamin A. (Laura) Witte of Westchester, IL. and Allison A. Witte, of Valparaiso, her mother Leona Beckmann, grandchildren, Logan, Liam, and Eliana and sisters, Merna Ahlemeyer of South Carolina, Verna Schulz of Wisconsin and Iris Armitage of Michigan. Doreen was very active at Immanuel Lutheran church and school. She was involved with Step Ahead, an early education program. She loved card groups including hand and foot as well as her book club. Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, 4-7 PM and Saturday, June 10, 2023, 10 – 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 N. Monticello Park Drive, Valparaiso. Memorial Services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the church, Pastor Andrew Fields officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School or the VNA Hospice.
