Obituary
George Oliver Baker, 79 of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was born November 6, 1943 in Scottsboro, Alabama the son of J. Hugh Baker and Opal Robbins Woods. George was the owner and operator of numerous gas stations in the area and was a Lifetime Member of the Moose Lodge # 783 in Hobart. On November 3, 1962 he married Millie Byrd, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are his sons, George Baker, Scott Baker and Michael (Alicia) Baker, all of Valparaiso, 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Sara (Tyler) Kerrick and Emily (Tyler) Sandlin, 3 great grandsons, Matthew, Andrew and Maverick, his mother Opal Woods and 5 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father and 4 brothers and sisters. Private family services will be held with burial in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
