Horst Heinz Scheller

Horst Heinz Scheller, 72 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022. He was born October 11, 1949 in Tübingen, Germany the son of Paul and Erna (Koehler) Scheller and was a Valparaiso High School graduate.  Horst was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and a computer and drafting engineer. On July 19, 1975, he married Cheryl Rae Hallman, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are his children, Kurt W. (Victoria) Scheller of Valparaiso and Krista R. Elkins of Portage, 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and siblings, Anita (Ron) Cohn of Chicago, Gertrud (John)  Lee of Valparaiso, Paul (Deb) Scheller of Syracuse, IN and Marianne (Robert) Welsh of Valparaiso and many loving and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 grandsons. Horst was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother with a great sense of humor. He also shared a great love for the rest of his extended family. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing, and was an avid card and coin collector. Horst was a dutiful son and an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He always had great stories to tell and his loving nature inspired many lifelong friendships. Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, 2 to 4 PM at Real Life Community Church of The Nazarene, 3134 Swanson Rd, Portage, IN 46368 with Funeral Services at 4:00 PM, Pastor Greg Tucker will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the V.A. Jesse Brown Clinic.
