Janice C. Tucker, 84, of Valparaiso, passed away quietly on May 16, 2020. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on December 16, 1935 to the late Raymond and Allison (MacMillan) Tucker, the second of five children.
Janice studied nursing at St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, Massachusetts and later completed her studies for a B.S. in Nursing from St. Louis University in 1961. Afterwards, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Boston, Washington D.C., and New York before she retired. Janice loved her professional work and took great joy in caring for people throughout her life. She set an example of purpose, gentle faith, and concern for others in everything she did.
Janice is preceded in death by her elder sister Sharon Malpiedi and younger brother Mark Tucker. She is survived by her brother Gordon Tucker of New York, Kevin Tucker of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews with whom she lovingly kept in touch until the more advanced stages of her disease. From beginning to the end, her life was filled with the loving affection and presence of friends and family.
A public wake will be held for Janice on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from 4-8 pm at Bartholomew Funeral Home. The funeral services and the burial at St. Paul Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Shellbourne Inc.
