Marie Elizabeth (Solmos) Watts

Marie Elizabeth Watts passed away March 12, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Portage, Indiana at the age of 101. She was born August 18, 1921 in Kingsbury, Indiana to Louis and Marie (Marhoffer) Solmos. On June 19, 1945 she married her husband Robert (Bob) Watts who preceded her in death in 1999. She was also predeceased by her parents and 6 brothers and sisters as well as her son-in-law Phil. Surviving are her children Mark (Marcy) Watts and Verlaine Hensley as well as 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Marie worked as a hairdresser for 73 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Church of Valparaiso, but recently had been attending Nativity of our Savior Catholic Church in Portage with her daughter. Visitation will be Monday March 20, 2023 from 3-7 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home and also on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of mass. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday March 21, 2023 at 10 AM at Nativity of our Savior Catholic Church in Portage, Rev. Kevin McCarthy presiding. Burial will follow the funeral at Memorial Park Cemetery in Valparaiso. Any memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice.
