Michael R. Hodges

Michael R. Hodges, 69, of Lake Station, passed away on February 18, 2023, in Valparaiso surrounded by family. He was born on July 26, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, to James E. and Alice (Rutter) Hodges, who both preceded him in death. On July 27, 1977 he married Diana Rollins in Valparaiso. Michael worked for many years at Inland Steel before retiring. He enjoyed playing cards, or as his family said, “losing at cards”. Michael was also a Cubs and Bears fan. He is survived by his wife Diana, and daughters Michelle (Kevin) Larue of St. John and Christina Hodges of Lake Station. Michael is also survived by his siblings James A. (Mary) Hodges of Westville, Brian K. (Ina) Hodges of Dyer, and Shirley A. Fritz of Texas, one grandchild Baylee Dopiriak, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for Michael will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 2:00 PM– 6:00 PM, at Bartholomew Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 6:00 PM, on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
