Patricia Flynn

Patricia Flynn 78, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022. She was born December 7, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to Conrad and Anita Steindler. Patricia graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore in 1962.  On April 16, 1966, she married Jerome T. Flynn Sr. at Holy Angels Cathedral in Gary. Patricia is survived by her husband, her children Jerome T. (Lisa) Flynn Jr. of Valparaiso and Elizabeth A. Etzler of Valparaiso; six grandchildren (Hannah Flynn, Maggie Etzler, Michael Flynn, Norah Flynn, Ethan Etzler, and Thomas Flynn) and her brothers Thomas (Barb) Steindler of Valparaiso and Gary Steindler (Sheryl Strabavy) of Chesterton.  Patricia was preceded in death by her parents to whom she was very devoted.

Patricia loved her family, garden, dogs, and cats.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her six grandchildren and felt extremely blessed to have been closely involved in each of their lives.  Patricia played an integral part in helping raise and nurture each grandchild.  At the end of her life, she expressed great sadness in knowing that she would be unable to see each of them grow into adulthood and continue to share in all their successes, happiness, and milestones.  Patricia was an incredibly devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother always placing the needs and feelings of others before herself.  Her family will miss her love and kindness more than can be described in words. 

Patricia was also an extremely modest person and specifically requested that her funeral be limited to immediate family.  In the end, she simply did not want people to show her undue attention even though it is most surely deserved because she touched the lives of so many people.  Patricia’s family will conduct a private memorial service in Valparaiso where Rev. Roque Meraz will officiate.
