Shirley A. (Sisson) Gunning

Shirley A. Gunning, 93 of Westville, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021. She was born March 25, 1928 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Naomi (Krantz) Sisson. Shirley graduated in 1946 from Edison Sr. High School in East Gary, IN. She married Jack D. Gunning on September 21, 1947, in Gary, Indiana. She retired, after 28 years, on January 1, 1985 from Bank of Indiana (Chase Bank) she served as Asst. Vice President and Office Manager of the Lake Station office. Surviving is her son James (Kathy) Gunning of Westville, IN, four grandchildren: Cary (Misty) Gunning of Portage and Jennifer (Jason Anselmo) Gunning of Hobart, Evin (Sherrie) Eakins of Hamlet and Jennifer (Fred) Westbrook of Warren, Ohio, 12 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren brother in law Donar Teske of Portage, nephews Jack Wenzel of Westville and Robert Teske of Valparaiso, three nieces, Theresa Seagle of Tennessee, Sandra Leistikow of Texas and Marsha Smith of Valparaiso. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in August 2011, parents, Joseph and Naomi Sisson, sister Bonnie Wenzel, in- laws Jesse and Lucile Gunning, sister Carol Teske, nephew Thomas Wenzel, brother and sister in law James and Bonnie Jean Sisson, brother in law, Jack Wenzel, and great grandson, Jeremy Rosendaul, her grandparents Leonard Sisson and Flora Helen (Campbell) Sisson and Jacob George Krantz and Nellie (Shinnaman) Krantz. Shirley was a former member and president of the lake Station Lions Aux., OES Hobart Chapter #314, Lake Station Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion #100 Aux. Visitation will be held for Shirley on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, 10 AM - 12 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
