Michael Newhard

Licensed Funeral Director

Michael Newhard is the owner of the Newhard Funeral Home in Westville and Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso. He purchased the Westville chapel from J.K. Weaver in January of 1989 and the Valparaiso chapel from C. Robert Bartholomew in August of 1997.

He graduated from Valparaiso High School, attended Indiana University, and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Michael currently resides with his family in Valparaiso. He is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso and also St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis, the Knights of Columbus Moose Lodge, and the Westville Lions Club. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his two sons, Kyle and Christopher.

Charles Harris

Licensed Funeral Director

Chuck lives in Valparaiso. He has two daughters, Christine who is twenty-one years old, and Ella who is sixteen years old. He attended Ball State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and minored in philosophy. Chuck has been a licensed funeral director for 25 years and also works as Recorder for Porter County. Chuck is President of the HUB of Porter County (formally the Porter County Substance Abuse Council), former board member of the Porter County Community Action Drug Coalition, former board member of the United Way of Porter County, board member of the Porter County Suicide Prevention Task Force, and board member of the V.N.A. of NWI. Chuck belongs to the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Orak Shrine, Sons of the American Legion, Porter County Farm Bureau, National Funeral Directors Association, Property Records Industry Association, and a member of the Indiana Coroner's Association.

Diane Lawrence

Secretary

Diane is the secretary and has been at Bartholomew's since May of 1987.

She lives in Morgan Township with her husband of 55 years, Don. She has a son and a daughter and 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 2 great grandsons and a great granddaughter. Her hobbies are needlework, quilting, knitting, crocheting and making baskets.

Alice Kyle

Certified Pre-Planning Consultant

Alice is married to Jerry Kyle and has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Alice has over 20 years of pre-planning experience. She is a certified pre-planning consultant thru the National Funeral Directors Association and she is willing to sit down and personally explain your options for burial or cremation at your convenience at no cost or obligation. Alice does have years of experience, also, at educating families and our communities through the Speaker's Bureau and other community events. If you belong to a local or civic organization or church group, Alice would be willing to be a guest speaker at meetings or other gatherings at no cost. Please contact her if interested.
