Lorene Ella (Lange) Thune passed away on April 4, 2017. She was born in Concordia, Missouri on March 2, 1926 to Harry and Ella Lange. When she was 5 years old, her mother died suddenly and her father married a widow, Alwine Wischmeier. Lorene spent her childhood in Concordia, where she attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1940. Lorene attended Valparaiso University, where she met her husband, Paul E. Thune. They married in 1950 and were blessed with two sons, Paul C. of Des Moines, Iowa and Mark W. of Zionsville, Indiana. Lorene believed in Jesus Christ as her Savior and she lived out her Christian faith through her devotion to family and kindness and service to others. She loved decorating and fashion and enjoyed transforming her house into an inviting and stylish home. She worked as a secretary to the Dean of the Chapel at Valparaiso University from 1965 until 1988. Lorene excelled at her many roles as a wife, mom, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso for many years. Lorene is survived by her husband Paul; sons Paul and Mark; daughters-in-law Cathie and Julie; and grandchildren; Rachel, Sarah, Matthew, Morgan, and Madeline. A graveside service and interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
